When the terrace adjoining their North Hobart restaurant, Ogee, went up on the market, Matt and Monique Breen jumped on the alternative to broaden the restaurant’s operations into lodging.

Sympathetic design updates honour the constructing’s previous whereas inviting trendy luxurious, most notably within the putting rest room. This previously underutilised room now glows with curved purple tiles, underfloor heating, and a freestanding tub.
‘We had quite a lot of room to play with and Mark Drury, our architect, went to city on the design,’ says Matt of the lavatory. ‘As you stroll in, you’re met with the large curved, purple tiled wall that works as a divider between you and the tub. It’s an actual wow second as you stroll in.’
The lounge follows the color palette of the restaurant exterior with its darkish and moody partitions that encourage cosy report listening periods by the Pitt & Giblin audio system.
A wall was eliminated to open up the dwelling space to the kitchen, which is equally bespoke. ‘We wished it to really feel like you may be sitting at Ogee,’ explains Matt.
‘Being a chef, I wished the kitchen to be excessive finish and a kitchen that I might like to prepare dinner in if staying in an Airbnb. We decked it out with all the identical pots, pans, glassware and utensils because the restaurant, so anyone that likes to prepare dinner could be in heaven.’
