New Zealand wool flooring grounds Taupō’s landmark civic project

Situated within the coronary heart of Taupō, He Whare Hono o Tūwharetoa by DCA Architects of Transformation is a groundbreaking civic venture that brings collectively Taupō District Council and Ngāti Tūwharetoa entities beneath one roof for the primary time.

The constructing is owned and developed by Te Whare Hono o Tūwharetoa Restricted Partnership — a collective of Tūwharetoa trusts and firms — and leased partially by the council for its foremost civic operations.

Laser-cut exterior panels reference Tūwharetoa tales and echo the patterns of the encircling panorama.

A consultant of DCA Architects of Transformation stated, “It was pleasing for us to see Tūwharetoa occupying the highest two flooring within the ‘heavens’, a manifestation of a brand new cultural expression of hononga (connection), governance and the articulation of spatial consciousness that structure can deliver.”

A pure and native method to design

Comfortable, pure wool tiles deliver heat and texture to the interiors.

Environmental efficiency was a core precedence. Alongside seismic resilience and power targets, the constructing options over 2,800 sq. metres of Godfrey Hirst Pure Elevation wool carpet tiles in 3 colors: Corriedale Fleece, Drysdale Fleece and Perendale Fleece.

Crafted from renewable, biodegradable New Zealand wool fibre, the tiles are PVC-free, Purple Checklist-free, and Inexperienced Star Stage 4 licensed.
