From the Architect: “Nestled amidst scenic hills, dealing with the seashore and Kattegat, Heatherhill Seashore Home is a harmonious mix of Danish architectural traditions and modern innovation. As you step into the house, you instantly sense the calming impact it exudes. Each design alternative and architectural function is meant to reinforce the feeling of arrival and designed to seamlessly combine with the fantastic thing about its environment.
“With this ground-up challenge, we explored the notion of a standard Danish summerhouse set in nature. This strategy is mirrored within the shapes of the constructions and the selection of wooden as the first materials inside and outside. Two rigorously crafted axes join totally different features inside the home, guaranteeing a circulate from one house to the following. The home itself is positioned totally on the earlier home plot to attenuate the impression on the encompassing panorama in addition to to work with the sloping environment, utilizing varied ranges to create a way of consolation inside, whereas maximizing panorama views. The barn-structure profile distinction sharply with the comfortable hills surrounding the home, whereas the cedar cladding lends a pure pores and skin that, over time, will patina to a silvery shade, that blends in with the positioning. The home itself appears to develop naturally from the panorama, adorned with a sedum roof and cedar cladding. The strict, linear structure creates hanging silhouettes. A non-public atrium beckons you to unwind and reconnect with nature.
“Inside, the emphasis on materiality is obvious in each element. The usage of lye-treated Douglas fir planks from Dinesen all through the inside, from flooring to partitions and ceiling, provides heat and continues the promise of the home mixing with the setting. Within the timber-clad front room, nature turns into an ever-present companion. The standard brick flooring pays homage to the timeless class of Danish residential modernism from the ’50s and ’60s, infusing the house with a way of heritage. On this harmonious mix of nature-inspired components and midcentury-modern influences, the supplies chosen for the residing house usually are not merely alternatives; they’re declarations of longevity.
“The structure of the house gracefully unfolds from the sunken front room, offering a framed view of the minimalist kitchen, accentuated by a silver travertine island. The usage of Douglas wooden, pure bricks, and travertine all through the house, coupled with framed views of the encompassing pure setting, connects the house with its setting.
“On the core of the design idea lies a dedication to real materiality that engages the senses. All surfaces and textures are chosen to create an area that not solely captivates the eyes but in addition resonates with the sense of contact. This intentional strategy transforms the combination of components into an immersive sensory expertise.”
