Though she’s from Westchester, Monica Malarczyk by no means traveled to Saugerties, simply an hour and a half drive north, as she was rising up in New York. When she first visited a buddy with a weekend house there, she was smitten. “I fell in love with the peace, the character, and the tranquility,” says Monica, who previously labored as a non-public chef and is now pivoting to inside design. She finally determined to construct a brand new household house in Saugerties from the bottom up with the assistance of her brother, builder Peter Malarczyk. “It’s a unique world from Westchester, so arising right here felt like a retreat, which is what I needed.”
