Susanna Grant is a backyard designer and co-director of Care, Not Capital, with the irrepressible John Little (we wrote about him right here). With assist from “a lot of glorious gardeners and ecologists,” they provide a free program that helps to equip trainees with the talents wanted for “fashionable gardening.” Susanna explains: “The primary concept is shifting the emphasis and a number of the price range away from onerous landscaping and infrastructure in the direction of planting, habitat creation—and gardeners.”
This little yard in North London was reworked by Susanna and a like-minded shopper, who had already efficiently campaigned along with his Islington neighbors to get the native authorities to put in some planters on a tragic stretch of sidewalk. He requested Susanna to make a wildlife backyard there; then requested her to assist along with his personal disused yard.
