From the Architect: “A spot immersed in lush Atlantic rainforest nature. A terrain full of massive leafy timber, foliage, shrubs, birds, and wild animals. A difficult topography with a steep slope, attribute of the Nova Lima area in Minas Gerais. That is the place the place Casa Açucena is inserted.

“The mission is a response to a delicate studying of the place. In its first contact with this terrain, the necessity to preserve the pure traits is already clear. The act of wanting upward, from the bottom to the cover of timber, elevated as much as fifty ft above floor degree, was decisive for the creation of the idea. The right way to construct in a spot with such a steep topography, whereas sustaining the unique nature? The right way to give the residents the every day expertise of wanting up and seeing the sky by way of the treetops. These had been the questions that guided all design choices.

“The assumption that structure ought to mould to the terrain, and never the opposite approach round, was the place to begin.
