The winners of the Australian Institute of Architects’ 2026 Queensland Structure Awards have been introduced, with tasks from city and regional communities recognised for his or her ambition, public generosity and response to put.
Jury chair professor Michael Keniger stated that the winners comprised numerous adventurous and bold industrial and neighborhood buildings which have contributed to the revitalisation of Brisbane’s CBD by providing a excessive diploma of public generosity.
One such challenge was 205 North Quay by Hassell, REX and Richards and Spence, a industrial tower in Brisbane that acquired the celebrated Queensland Structure Medallion, the Beatrice Hutton Award for Industrial Structure, and the Artwork and Structure Prize. The jury applauded the design group for opening the bottom ground to “gentle, air and civic occupation.”
“The challenge prompts the road, plaza and laneway, making a welcoming threshold that encourages motion, pause and change. In doing so, it establishes a disciplined benchmark for a way industrial growth can enrich metropolis life past its boundaries,” commented the jury. “We congratulate the architects and their shopper on the bravura and generosity which have pushed the adventurous creativeness behind the creation of 205 North Quay.”
Keniger added that, within the residential classes, the jury noticed architects difficult standard concepts of the standard Queenslander and embarking on bold new typologies.
