House of Baby designs Brixton restaurant Banh Banh as "immersive artwork"

Design studio Home of Child drew on modernist structure, akin to Saigon’s Independence Palace, for the inside design of Vietnamese restaurant Banh Banh in London.

Studio founders Joseph Losper and Tomio Shota needed to attract on the assembly between previous and new tradition when creating the design.

“The unit shares similarities with typical Vietnamese structure in its narrowness and exaggerated depth,” Losper informed Dezeen.

“The underlying structure attracts on this quintessential spatial construction, noticed throughout our analysis journey, the place you progress by layers of areas, a entrance space, right into a central courtyard and into a definite rear house.”

For the structure, Losper and Shota determined to create two group eating rooms to underline Banh Banh’s deal with communal consuming.

A pink-tiled Vietnamese shrine sits on the finish of a slender entrance, which opens up into the 2 eating rooms.

“The house is conceived as a single, immersive art work, mixing supplies like wooden, paint, steel, plaster, and meals inside an area that friends bodily have interaction with,” Shota stated.

For the color scheme, Home of Child needed to reference Vietnamese structure.
