Rediscovered U.S. Constitution Copy Fetches $9 Million After Century-Long Obscurity

In 1787, delegates from the newly fashioned United States met with the intention to revise the Articles of Confederation, adopted in 1777. They in the end created a completely new doc: the Structure. 100 copies had been printed and despatched to the 13 states for ratification. At the moment, eight of those copies are identified to outlive, and till just lately, none had been regarded as in personal collections. Brunk Auctions

The Brunk public sale was initially scheduled for Sept. 28 however needed to be postponed to Oct. 17 due to Hurricane Helene. Different heaps within the public sale included a primary draft of the Articles of Confederation from July 12, 1776, that offered for $1 million and a Nineteenth-century German copy after Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze’s 1851 model of Washington Crossing the Delaware that offered for $250,000. Leutze’s unique work offered for $45 million in 2022.
