Blissful Friday GPODers!
We’re ending the week with an replace from frequent GPOD contributor, Cherry Ong. Cherry sends us so many fabulous photographs of her travels to gardens throughout Canada and the Pacific Northwest (GPOD on the Street: Outdated Montreal, Bellevue Botanical Backyard, Hatley Citadel, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Tofino Botanical Gardens to call a number of). However she does often share photographs from her personal stunning backyard in Richmond, British Columbia (October in Cherry’s Backyard, Late Winter and Early Spring in Cherry’s Backyard, Wreath Making with Cherry). As we speak we get to see how her area has advanced over the previous 12 months (Cherry’s Summer time That Was) and what it seemed like because it closed out summer season.
Hope you’re having a beautiful week! Thought I might share some photographs of my very own backyard. This set displays August. I hope you and your readers take pleasure in them.
Wishing you all a cheerful Halloween!

My little perennial yard backyard. All DIY in 2008. Onerous to consider this was all grass again then. The east portion of the walkway was eliminated 2 years in the past to make approach for a small greenhouse.
Love abutilons and I’m all the time as much as attempt a brand new one. This white one is smaller than the others I’ve tried and is named ‘Albus’ abutilon (Abutilon x Hybridum ‘Albus’, Zones 8–11).
A closeup of the blooms of ‘Albus’ abutilon.
One other view of the yard from the gate. Many authentic plantings from 2008 stay.
Our little glass greenhouse on the east facet of the backyard. It measures 6 ft x 8 ft with single pane glass on aluminum body (Halls Supreme). We picked up this magnificence from Russell Nursery in Vancouver Island after being on the waitlist for two years.
I’ve a lot enjoyable planting succulent hanging planters each spring.
They’re taken aside on the finish of the season and I save as many vegetation as I can.
There are three Japanese maples in our yard – the 2 listed below are ‘Beni Otake’ and ‘Ukigumo’ (Acer Palmatum ‘Beni Otake’ and ‘Ukigumo’, Zones 5–9). ‘Ukigumo’ is the one to the appropriate and behind the classic birdhouse.
Don’t you’re keen on outdated containers which can be falling aside! I take advantage of them to fill the gaps of perennials which have gone into early dormancy.
Thanks a lot for this stunning replace in your backyard, Cherry! Your unbelievable succulent combos by no means stop to amaze and encourage me.
