Eight wooden kitchens that make the most of the material

Swirly cupboards and oak-lined ceilings characteristic in our newest lookbook, which collects eight residential kitchens from around the globe the place wooden takes centre stage.

Robust, versatile and sometimes sustainable, timber is a favorite materials amongst architects and designers.

From an east London dwelling that’s virtually completely underground to a rural Tasmanian farmhouse, listed here are eight properties united by their picket kitchens.

Churchtown, Eire, by Scullion Architects

Churchtown is a curved glass extension to a household residence in Dublin, designed by Scullion Architects as a family-focussed area.

The studio was knowledgeable by Thirties modernism when creating the kitchen, which is characterised by stained oak-panelled cabinetry.

Bolívar House

Bolívar Home, Spain, by Juan Gurrea Rumeu

Architect Gurrea Rumeu designed this residence for himself and his spouse in Barcelona.

Swirly darkish wooden was used to create tall kitchen cupboards, whereas concrete partitions and flooring add an industrial contact to the inside.

James Shaw's house in east London

London home, UK, by James Shaw

Identified for making extruded recycled plastic furnishings, designer Shaw utilized his off-beat artistic method to his personal London residence which he designed with architect Nicholas Ashby to be virtually completely underground.

Shaw created kitchen cupboards out of veneered MDF, which he paired with worktops shaped from pale blue HIMACS and chrome steel.

Fjord Boat Home is a lakeside vacation residence that sits close to the border of Denmark and Germany.

Coopworth, Tasmania, by FMD Architects

FMD Architects designed a farmhouse in rural Tasmania with a plywood-lined kitchen and dwelling areas separated by a press release wood-burning range.

Positioned on Bruny Island, Coopworth options corrugated metallic cladding that references vernacular agricultural buildings.

Zwaag home, the Netherlands, by DAB Studio

Two forms of timber had been used to clad the flooring, partitions, ceiling and cupboards of this kitchen at a household residence in Zwaag, the Netherlands.

DAB Studio renovated the flooring and ceiling with hand-scraped oak, whereas Afromosia wooden – a tropical hardwood native to west Africa – was utilized to the cupboards and partitions.
