Palau Güell, designed by Antoni Gaudi as a residence for the Güell household (Barcelona, 1890), is filled with parabolic arches. It’s stated that Gaudi crafted the form after the inversion of the curve shaped by a dangling chain.
In addition to the doorway arches (not pictured), this concept is mirrored in lots of elements of the residence, from the basement stables the place the horses had been stored, all the way in which to the rooftop deck.
I’ve tried to seize a few of these arches on this picture collection.
