This week we’re revisiting a few of our favourite all-time summer time tales, like this one from again in 2018:
When Rafael Reis and his girlfriend, Sara, got down to open an inexpensive, fashionable guesthouse in Lisbon, they knew what they’d name it: Casa C’Alma, a phrase that may (nearly universally) convey a way of “tranquility and quietness—that are the important thing ideas of our guesthouse,” Rafael says.
Whereas searching for areas, they discovered a townhouse house that had been lately renovated by architect Pureza Faria Blanc, and knew Casa C’Alma had discovered its house. “The kitchen was one of many issues that made us fall in love with the home,” Rafael says. “Its pale blue, gentle jade coloration completely channels the sensation we had been making an attempt to create.”
And that it does. Final summer time, I made the five-room bed-and-breakfast my house base for a visit to Lisbon. I used to be particularly taken with the kitchen—the place friends gather their breakfast—a refreshing and light-filled area. Let’s have a look.

The kitchen is used for breakfast whereas friends are boarding, nevertheless it will get full use when Casa C’Alma hosts occasional personal occasions (workshops, pop-up outlets, and celebratory dinners). “On New 12 months’s Eve we host a cocktail party for all our friends,” Rafael says.
