This simply in from chef, author, and style-maker Clare de Boer: a slim forged-iron martini desk and iron fire instruments that look straight out of ye olden days. Initially designed for Stissing Home—the sumptuously rustic, cozy tavern Clare runs in Pine Plains, NY—the choices are actually out there through Roseland, the small-batch furnishings co. she based together with her husband Luke Sherwin. One step nearer to our dream of residing inside Stissing Home.

Above: The lithe Stissing Martini Desk ($390) is hand-forged in Maine at Black Canine Ironworks (which featured in our Remodelista in Maine guide). Modeled after an 18th century desk on the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur museum in Delaware, it’s “solid in 1800 diploma warmth, then labored with hammer and anvil”. It takes over 5 hundred strikes to finish, then is completed with linseed oil.Above: The Stissing Fireplace Instruments are “impressed by 18th- and Nineteenth- century ironwork discovered within the Index of American Design”. The shovel and poker are $390 for the set, and a pair of andirons are $430.
