With the recent sale of the San Siro, the iconic stadium is slated for replacement in the future. It will be sad to lose this architectural icon.

First inbuilt 1925 (35k seats) the stadium obtained its first renovation in early Thirties when the stands had been joined collectively by filling within the corners with further seating (as much as ~50k seats). Its first main growth got here within the early Fifties with the addition of an higher bowl (complete of 60k seated/25k standing spectators). This renovation launched the world to its iconic spiraling ramps designed by architects Armando Ronca and Ferruccio Calzolari. The final renovation was for the 1990 World Cup, which launched its distinctive roof and extra spiral ramps across the stadium (architects Giancarlo Ragazzi and Enrico Hoffer).

Immediately recognizable, it’s a true icon. I hope the substitute stadium honors her nicely.
