Approval granted for residential towers in Sydney’s Chatswood

A two-tower proposal comprising 258 properties has been permitted for improvement in Chatswood, Sydney.

Designed by Carter Williamson Architects with Land and Type Studios, the state vital challenge was permitted by the NSW Division of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure following its exhibition in June 2025.

The towers will likely be positioned at 38–42 Anderson Avenue, 3 McIntosh Avenue and a couple of Day Avenue, roughly 300 metres from the Chatswood Transport Interchange. Rising 23 and 33 storeys from a shared brick podium, the towers will collectively accommodate 258 flats. Of those, 56 reasonably priced housing models will likely be managed by a registered neighborhood housing supplier for no less than 15 years. The rostrum will characteristic business and retail choices internally and communal open areas on prime. A brand new public area surrounding the event can even be launched.

Carter Williamson Architects with panorama architect Land and Type Studios received an invited design excellence competitors for the challenge in 2024. A key conceptual driver of the design is a mature angophora tree on the positioning, which impressed the outside color palette and decided the type of the rostrum. As well as, the event has been named The Angophora.

In response to a communique from the architects, the event is a part of the broader Chatswood CBD Technique 2036, which goals to extend the provision of well-located housing close to public transport, employment alternatives and neighborhood facilities.

A new public domain surrounding the development will be introduced.

Principal Shaun Carter stated the approval displays the evolution of Chatswood’s city-shaping potential.

“The Angophora reveals how density will be delivered with care, the place properties are stuffed with mild and air, the place structure strengthens the general public realm, and the place reasonably priced housing is built-in into the material of the town. We’re proud to contribute to a challenge that responds to its context immediately whereas supporting the neighborhood’s wants into the long run,” stated Carter.
