Situated in an open space under the terminal’s 40-foot (12-metre) ceilings and expansive skylights, Ménard Dworkind (MRDK) needed to discover progressive methods to create a way of intimacy within the house.

“The mission started with the straightforward but poetic concept of strolling from the primary lounge into the backyard,” stated the studio.

One other problem was the lack to core into the concrete ground, and due to this fact run electrical cables to the seating areas.

To deal with each points, the crew designed a sequence of raised planters that outline the lounge house and conceal the cabling and plugs.

“These planters not solely carry lush greenery and texture into the house, but in addition outline circulation paths and body the lounge’s many seating areas,” MRDK stated.

A brand new opening was carved into the unique lounge wall to supply entry to the prolonged space, which is wrapped by tall glass panels in sure locations.
