Seen from the road, a gingerbread Victorian cottage close to Melbourne, Australia hides its secret: a streamlined rear extension with a sleekly trendy silhouette. The problem for panorama architect Ben Scott of Ben Scott Backyard Design was to create a backyard to attach the 2 faces of the facade.
The result’s a entrance backyard with irresistible curb enchantment: an off-the-cuff, meandering design of old style flowering vegetation punctuated by spiky perennial grasses that add a contemporary sensibility.
The again backyard is one other story. Throughout a transform a number of years in the past, householders Lynn and Brett Cheong added areas for out of doors eating and entertaining. To enrich the up to date design, Scott’s again backyard emphasizes the sharp-edged geometry of the structure.
Let’s take a stroll across the backyard, from entrance to again.
