The Brick Bay Folly 2027 is now open for entries from structure college students and up to date graduates (throughout the final ten years) to create designs that discover the intersection between sculpture and structure.

The annual competitors permits groups to collaborate on the creation of experimental and modern architectural follies, with the successful group receiving $30,000 in grants in direction of realising their proposed folly design. Entries are due by 9 am Monday, 23 June 2026.

Together with grant and sponsorship cash, the chosen successful group will obtain mentorship and technical help from Resene, Cassidy Development, Cheshire Architects, Construction Design and Unitec. The completed mission is then displayed on-site for as much as 48 months and shall be photographed by Samuel Hartnett.

The competitors provides college students and up to date graduates a uncommon alternative to create a conceptual small-scale piece of structure that, if chosen, they’ll then construct.

The successful 2026 Brick Bay Folly is Inside the Wings of the Kāruhiruhi by Jasleen Basra, Nyle Macaranas, Rain Nario, Naomi Felicia and Sufyaan Chuttur. The mission featured 7000 pukanui, akapuka and magnolia leaves cloaking the Folly, that are preserved with coconut glycerine.

Full submission pointers and data on the right way to submit your mission will be discovered at brickbaysculpture.co.nz.

The 2027 Brick Bay Folly is supported by Resene, Cassidy Development, Cheshire Architects, Construction Design, Unitec, Samuel Hartnett and Brick Bay Sculpture Belief.
