Fujisawa office building, Japan by Jo Nagasaka of Schemata Architects

For 160 years, Uchida Shōten has made constructing {hardware} in Fujisawa, on a stretch of the outdated Tōkaidō street that was as soon as Fujisawa-juku, the sixth publish city of the Edo interval. Its new head workplace, designed by Jo Nagasaka of Schemata Architects, borrows the proportions of the machiya townhouses that when lined that street: simply over six metres broad, 33 metres deep and 9.5 metres tall, beneath the 10-metre peak restrict but taller than a conventional townhouse.
