El JoDo
In 1929, Crawford bought what would develop into her most well-known property, dubbed “El JoDo” as a playful portmanteau of her identify and that of her husband, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. The Georgian-style residence, which was positioned at 426 North Bristol Avenue within the luxe Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, was Crawford’s main residence for 26 years. The star snagged the property for simply $57,000 and located nice pleasure in repeatedly transforming it throughout her time there. An April 1990 AD function recollects the house as having been crammed with greens, golds, silks, and brocades.
Joan and Franchot Tone
After her break up from Fairbanks, Crawford married actor, director, and producer Franchot Tone. The duo settled into life along with their dachshunds, Child and Boopshen. As each Tone and Crawford had been at residence on the stage, the pair noticed match to include music into their residence and owned a wide range of pianos through the years.
