As a part of the Australian Institute of Architects’ South Australian Structure Awards, voting is now open for the Metropolis of Adelaide Prize Folks’s Alternative Award.
The award recognises the very best new venture in Adelaide’s public realm, as decided by South Australians from a shortlist of entries.
The Institute’s SA chapter president, Kirstie Coultas, mentioned the award highlights the vital function structure performs in shaping town.
“This yr’s tasks reveal the various methods public design can enhance the lives of South Australians. Inclusivity, group and connection to Nation are central to every venture and spotlight the transformative energy of fine design,” she mentioned.
“Now in its fifteenth yr, the prize continues to construct public consciousness of fine design throughout Adelaide and celebrates current tasks that make an impressive contribution to town.”
The 2026 shortlist consists of:
Adelaide Aquatic Centre (Kauwingka) – JPE Design Studio with Warren and Mahoney, and Karl Winda Telfer
Adelaide City Corridor – Swanbury Penglase
Eighty Eight O’Connell – Woods Bagot
Opuntia and Olea: Tales of Adaptation – Giuseppe Matteo Pappalardo

The winner, together with the opposite 2026 South Australian Structure Awards recipients, will probably be introduced on 20 June.
