Tasmanian students’ work awarded with graduate and professional studies prizes

The Australian Institute of Architects 2025 Barry McNeill Graduate Prize was introduced on 27 November at an exhibition showcasing the work of shortlisted graduating college students from the College of Tasmania’s Grasp of Structure program.

This 12 months, the panel awarded Jack Rose with the Barry McNeill Graduate Prize. Their quotation commented, “Jack has an intuitive design sensibility backed up by an analytical, enquiring thoughts. His mature design issues discover options past the plain, as evidenced by his constant portfolio.”

Having assessed entrants in line with numerous standards, together with tutorial efficiency, presentation of a portfolio of labor, interview efficiency, diploma of preparedness for entry into skilled follow and growth potential – the jury commented, “Jack’s openness to dialog, his communication abilities and clearly evident design potential, coupled with the will to follow, make him a worthy recipient of the Barry McNeill Graduate Prize.”

A commendation was awarded to Jacob Tripp, who’s tasks the jury stated “mirror a design confidence underpinned by tutorial rigour.” The opposite shortlisted college students included Luke Pendergast, Shannon Terry, Zachary Tregenza and Lachlan Sutton.

This 12 months, the prize jury consisted of Scott Verdouw of Jaws Architects; Josh Mulcahy from Vos Building; Leigh Woolley of Leigh Woolley Architects; Cath Corridor of 1 Plus 2 Structure; and Nicky Adams of Mana Architects.

Jacob Tripp was awarded the Board of Architects of Tasmania’s 2025 Prize in Professional Studies recipient and a commendation for the Barry McNeill Graduate Prize.

The night additionally included the announcement of Jacob Tripp because the recipient of the Board of Architects of Tasmania’s 2025 Prize in Skilled Research recipient as Jacob Tripp. Offered by Cath Corridor, a member of the Board of Architects Tasmania, this prize recognises excellence in Skilled Research within the Grasp of Structure course on the College of Tasmania.

An exhibition of the shortlisted pupil work is on show on the Tasmanian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects till 4 December.
