A seashore home with a brutalist character has taken out the highest prize on the 2026 North Queensland Australian Institute of Regional Architects Awards.
Airlie Seashore Home 1 by Glyde Bautovich Structure and City Design was named the recipient of the esteemed Walter and Oliver Turnbridge Award for Constructing of the 12 months. Constructed from concrete and blockwork to resist cyclones, the challenge incorporates lush landscaping and a triangular mangrove-inspired motif. The home additionally earned a commendation for Residential Structure – Homes (New).
Conceived as each a studying atmosphere and a social anchor that prioritises shared areas, pure gentle and air flow, Calvary Prep by Counterpoint Structure gained the Regional Challenge of the 12 months. The challenge moreover acquired a commendation for Academic Structure.
All awarded and counseled tasks from the area are shortlisted for the Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Structure Awards, set to be introduced in June 2026.
