Why is there so much hate for painted brick?

That is one thing I've seen on the Web currently, I've seen lots of people calling portray brick "horrible", "ugly", "modernist" , "suburban", and "damaging".

That is odd to me as a result of in my space, painted brick is a cherished and delightful a part of most of the native historic districts and a key a part of their character. Is that this not frequent elsewhere, is painted brick actually that unhealthy?
